So
far Botox has been widely used to cure wrinkles and ageing related issues on
face. However in a new FDA approved clinical trial, Botox has found to be
effective for treating vaginal spasms called acute vaginismus. It has been
found to be effective in all age categories of women. The treatment lasts only
one session. This is been found to be boon for many couple and partners who
could not enjoy sex for years. Overall around 6% of women in world suffer from
vaginismus.
Botox has ingredient botulinum Toxin A which helps to ease out pain in below the abdomen parts. However the injection can not be given simply with needle. The patient is made to sleep and than injection is given. Once the women gets up, she finds relaxed and fit to enjoy the sex as normal women. Dr. Peter T. Pacik who conducted the trials said, “You would not be able to approach these people with a needle.”
The
processing of injecting Botox for vaginismus treatment is quite similar to face
injection. The injection is given near the vagina which interrupts nerve
muscles and hence stops muscle spasm. Dr. Pacik describes that
vaginismus is reflex reaction to sexual organ penetration. This leads to
affected person's muscle to spasm. He further elaborated that vaginismus is
usually caused by fear of sex or upbringing of individual in complex
environment. However it’s widely believed to be physical problem which is not
true. The Botom treatment may cost up to $6300 but its worth if your sexual life
is badly affected. Some of the partner may be able to enjoy despite having
vaginismus due to their love for each other but the pain can't be forgotten.
